So I am sure you believe that eating vegetables can help you become healthier but did you know that you can use vegetables to help break habits that sabotage your weight loss success? Did you know that even if you struggle to eat a serving of veggies with each meal that there is a simple, EASY way to get your daily vegetable servings in just one meal?
Check out my three go-to strategies to use vegetables to help you lose weight.
#1: Eat vegetables at as many meals as possible to control between meal hunger.
Vegetables are full of fiber and water. The fiber and water keep you fuller longer so you can NATURALLY eat the right amount of calories rather than focusing on trying to eat less. So if you struggle with hunger between meals, including vegetables in your meals could help. Your belly will simply be too full for you to fit in those pretzels and candy that you typically try to use willpower to avoid between meals.
#2: Eat a TON of veggies at lunch to avoid the midafternoon sugar fest.
The fiber in vegetables helps to minimize or eliminate the dips in blood sugar that make you crave carbs. So if you are trying to avoid that midafternoon trip to the vending machine, having a BOS (big ole salad) with protein on it for lunch may just help.
#3: Adopt the BOS-a-day habit if you struggle to eat enough vegetables.
While eating veggies at multiple meals works for some people, there are some of us who simply won’t do it. Commiting to having an entrée salad (BOS + a good serving of protein) for one meal each day is an easy way to get your five servings of daily vegetables done in just one meal. If you choose to have a BOS for the same meal each day, you will soon be effortlessly getting in your daily veggies without a thought.
You have probably noticed that the BOS is a key part of my veggie strategy. Check out the video below to see how to make one for yourself that you will actually look forward to eating.
