Even when we have the best strategies and tricks to practice moderation we sometimes have an accidental indulgence (because you didn’t really mean to right) OR we overdo it altogether.

Can you relate? I know I can.

Here’s how it goes. I wake up and my rings are tight. I can see that my belly is sticking out (uh oh) and just to be sure that I really have done damage, I hop on the scale (yep 5 pounds up). Ugh! I despise that feeling but you know what… IT HAPPENS.

So rather than beat yourself up and swear that you are abstaining from now on while you wiggle yourself into your jeans, get rid of that bloating before it makes a permanent home on your body!

The one thing that you can drink to get rid of bloating fast is… WATER!

Here are three reasons why you want to drink water in order to get rid of the blowing right away.

Reason #1: Water consumption reduces water retention.

I know sometimes when we’re bloated the last thing we think we should do is put anything else in- especially any more water. However drinking more water allows your body to let go of the water it has. Think about it like this. If you have ever been on a really tight budget, you probably held on to the money you had and only spent it when absolutely necessary. When things changed and you had more money coming in, you were likely less hesitant to let money out by spending it on things other than the bare necessities. Your body treats water the same way.

Reason #2: Water consumption eliminates false hunger.

What do false hunger and bloating have to do with each other? Stay with me. The way we end up bloated is because we either had an accidental indulgence or we overindulged, right? So we ate things that we don’t normally eat and maybe we overate a little bit. The funny thing that happens is when we go back to eating normally, sometimes we feel hungry even though we’re not. We had plenty to eat, maybe we’re even stuffed but we struggle to eat normally. It is almost as if we are stuck in feeding frenzy mode and we feel hungry even though we have plenty of food in us. Drinking enough water eliminates false hunger so that when you’re back to your normal eating, you don’t have to use willpower to avoid eating when you are not hungry.

Reason #3: Water consumption increases your energy.

Being dehydrated even a tiny bit will lower your energy level. When you feel tired and lethargic, you are less likely to complete your workouts (another crucial eliminate in getting rid of water retention) and you are more likely to munch mindlessly. When you drink water, you automatically increase your energy and your ability to move and eat in a way that will help you achieve your goal of eliminating bloating.

Now that you know why optimizing your water intake is so important for eliminating bloating and water retention, go ahead and drink up.

One of my favorite tools to easily get in my gallon of water each day is my ½ gallon, wide-mouthed Kleen Kanteen. I love that I only need to refill it once to hit my water goal for the day. Many of my clients love it too and you can get your own in my Amazon store. CLICK HERE to get yours.
