“Why isn’t this working? It worked before.”
“I know what to do to lose weight. I am just struggling to get myself to do it.”
Have you said either of these statements lately? If so, that’s a huge clue that you may be falling into a really common trap-trying to lose weight like you did before even though conditions have CHANGED. The funny thing is that in our 20s, we can literally go hop on an elliptical and chill out there for an hour a day and lose weight. We can slash our calories or cut out a food group (hello carbs or meat) and lose weight. Practically anything works- at least for a while.
The problem comes though when we are thirty, thirty-five, or even forty and beyond and we are STILL trying those same strategies. The fact is, it will NOT work. And, as a matter of fact, the more we have used these strategies in our earlier years, the less likely they are to work now.
The sooner we realize that getting and staying fit beyond our 20s is a different ball game, the faster we will stop being frustrated and get results- lasting results. In the video below, I keep it completely real about why insisting on trying to lose weight the same way we did in our 20s is not only not working but making things worse.
Now that you know exactly why trying your 20-year old weight loss approach is backfiring like crazy now, it is time to embrace a “grown woman approach” to losing weight and staying fit.
