Just like sitting in a garage won’t turn me into a car, running won’t give me a “runner’s body”.

Yet, so many fitness programs are marketed with that exact logic. Do ballet workouts for a dancer’s body. Run for a runner’s body. And, the list goes on.

We spend our time and money without getting any closer to the body we want. Even worse, sometimes we get injured because we are skipping steps. We don’t prepare our bodies to handle these workouts without breaking down.

When I owned training studio, I saw this whole running to lose trap play out with so many women. They sought my help to figure out why they couldn’t lose weight “even though they were avid runners”. In most cases, they weren’t losing weight BECAUSE they were avid runners. A few changes to their weekly training schedules would get the scale and tape measure moving in the direction that they wanted. And, every single time those changes included LESS running.

Today, I am sharing an interview with my friend Shira of Mom Beyond Baby all about how to avoid those mistakes. Shira is a certified running coach hormone specialist. But, like many of the ladies I met, she too ran herself right into tighter pants. After discovering and addressing the mistakes that kept her piling on the pounds while pounding the pavement, she is running faster and stronger while looking better than ever.
Check out the video where she shares what we have to change if we want to make sure our running program isn’t sabotaging our weight loss.
