Can we agree that dessert is an essential part of life?
Ok so maybe that was a little dramatic but really if you like dessert, you like it. Giving it up to lose weight sounds like a good idea in the beginning- after the fitting room meltdown. But, like most things that we love, giving it up altogether is rarely a long term strategy.
Take a trip with me back to 2003. I was preparing for my first every competitive figure season. Becoming a physique athlete opened my eyes to just how much dialing in your nutrition made a difference in your physical appearance. Up until then, I was still drinking the eat less and move more Kool-Aid. I was convinced that all calories were the same. But, I quickly learned that was NOT the case- at all! Managing sugar and starch intake really matter when it comes to melting fat and seeing muscle definition.
Well, nine weeks of getting whipped into stage shape by a trainer at my local gym opened my eyes FOREVER. There was an ugly side to this that came later. I will blog about that another time. But, I had physical proof that simply saving calories to make room for my ice cream or brownie wasn’t as effective as I had hoped. That realization led to a twisted relationship with food. I started to categorize foods and good and bad. Dessert definitely fell into the bad category. So, anytime I wanted to lose weight, I swore off dessert.
Skipping dessert would pretty much leave me ripped… AND MAD WITH A FAKE SMILE!
That didn’t really work for me. Unless you count losing and gaining the same 15 pounds as working. Soooooo, I surrendered to the fact that I love dessert. And, I loved NOT gaining and losing the same 15 pounds. That tension drove me to figure out how to make really good tasting figure friendly desserts.
Now you, get to benefit from the struggle. So, here’s one of my favorite figure friendly desserts.
High Protein Chocolate Ice Cream
Ingredients:
- 2 scoops of Chocolate Isalean
- ½ frozen banana
- 1T unsweetened Almond Milk
Directions:
- Place the milk, Isalean, and banana in a blender- in that order.
- Blend on high power.
- As needed, shake the blender and restart. If the blender gets stuck, add 1T more of milk to get things moving again.
- Blend until you have a thick, ice cream consistency.
That’s all you have to do for figure friendly ice cream that you can enjoy every night. Want three more figure friendly desserts? Get your own copy of my Favorite Figure Friendly Desserts here.
